Assistant professor in cardiovascular and/or renal physiology
The Department of Cardiovascular and Renal Research, Institute of Molecular Medicine, invites applications for a 5-year-40%-part-time position as assistant professor in cardiovascular and/or renal physiology.
Major research areas of the department are regulation of blood pressure, NaCl and water balance, resistance vessel function, renal epithelial function and mechanisms of hypertension and hypertensive organ damage.
Research profile and tasks:
The main task for the assistant professor will be to establish a line of research that can strengthen translational research in the field of cardiovascular or renal physiology/ pathophysiology at the University of Southern Denmark and increase the level of integration with clinical departments.
A profile where translational research is part of the portfolio will be valued and close collaboration with the nearby Odense University Hospital (OUH) will be encouraged. OUH is the major hospital in the region (population base of 1,5 million) responsible for diagnosis and treatment within all specialities. Collaboration with other groups within the Institute of Molecular Medicine will also be encouraged.
Research qualifications:
The successful candidate must hold an MD, a pharmaceutical degree or equivalent in biological sciences, a PhD, must have proven postdoctoral training, teaching and supervising experience, and must have demonstrated significant research through publications.
Teaching commitments:
The main teaching commitments will be in physiology and pharmacology. The successful applicant will be responsible for courses for medical students. He /she will be involved in teaching physiology and pharmacology to medical and other students at the Faculty of Health Sciences. The candidate will be expected to mentor graduate and PhD students pursuing their Master’s degree and PhD.

An expert committee, appointed by the university, will assess all applications, and the applicants will individually be informed of their assessment by the university.
Appointment will take place according to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations, AC.
