Assistant professor in Risk Analysis and Risk Management at the Department of Environmental and Business Economics

Job description:

The Department of Environmental and Business Economics has an opening for an assistant professor in economics with special interest in risk analysis and risk management. The position is affiliated with the Environmental and Resource Economics research group. The ERE group conducts research in a number of fields, including

1. Theory of regulations
2. Pollution and resource scarcity
3. Integrated modelling
4. Risk analysis, risk management and risk communication
5. Ecosystem based management

The position is part of a larger multidisciplinary network, the Danish Centre for Risk and Safety Management (RISK), established in cooperation between University of Aalborg and University of Southern Denmark, campus Esbjerg. Danish Centre for Risk and Safety Management (RISK) plan to do research, graduate studies and cooperate with private companies within the local safety cluster.
In the application please write a 3 page research plan and specifying how your interests may correspond to this network. Similarly experience with externally funded projects is welcomed and should be specified in terms of both application and execution.

Appointment to the position as a fixed-term assistant professorship for three years requires scientific qualifications documented through a PhD degree or the equivalent in economics, management or in a closely related field.

The Department of Environmental and Business Economics is part of the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences and is located in Esbjerg. The department emphasizes business economics and economics in general. It conducts research in the following areas organized as research groups: (i) Markets and Competition, (ii) Organisation, Innovation and Management, (iii) Environmental and Resource Economics as well as (iv) Rural and Cultural Sociology.

The department provides teaching for BSc and MSc degrees in Economics and Business Administration with specializations in General Business Economics, Sports and Event Management and Marketing and Innovation, Environmental Resource Management, and Sociology and Cultural Analysis as well as diploma and MBA programmes in business administration. Further, the department provides teaching for an MSc degree in Public Health. This position asks for candidates with an interest teaching risk analysis and risk management on a planned new master programme in Risk and Safety Management.

The department provides a competitive salary, modern facilities for research and teaching, as well as resources for research assistants and for travel and conference participation.

The successful candidate will be employed at the University of Southern Denmark campus in Esbjerg, at the Department of Environmental and Business Economics, which employs some 50 members of staff.

Appointment to the position will be in accordance with the salary agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.
