Postdoctoral Researcher in Lipid Bioinformatics
A position as Postdoctoral Researcher in Lipid Bioinformatics is available in the group of Associate Professor Christer Ejsing, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Southern Denmark. The position is for two years and to be filled by 15 August 2012 or soon thereafter.
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled person to work on lipid bioinformatics. The successful candidate is expected to develop workflows for processing and analyzing high-content mass spectrometry-based lipidomic data. Moreover, the candidate is expected to design routines for integrating high-content lipidomic datasets with existing resource data. All candidates are required to compose a research proposal as part of their job application. Importantly, the research proposal should include a review of contemporary lipid bioinformatic tools and an outline of relevant research objectives that the candidate wishes to pursue.
The position is available to candidates with a PhD degree in computational sciences, bioinformatics or a related discipline. Prior experience in lipid bioinformatics and designing procedures for processing and managing mass spectrometric data are prerequisites. Moreover, the candidate should be proficient in programming (incl. Python) and using tools for mining complex datasets (e.g. SAS). Finally, the candidate should be proficient in English, proactive and possess good interpersonal skills.

The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
The application must include the following:
• A letter stating your specific interest, motivation and qualifications for the project in question (max. two pages)
• A detailed curriculum vitae including personal contact information, information on previous employment and teaching experience.
• A full list of publications stating the scientific publication on which the applicant wishes to rely.
• Copy of diplomas including notes
• At least two signed letters of reference
• A five-page research proposal that reviews state-of-the-art lipid bioinformatic and specifies relevant research objectives.
