Associate Professorship in Business Studies, Department of Border Region Studies (IFG)
The Department of Border Region Studies is located in Sønderborg and rooted in the unique history of the Southern Danish border region. It has lively relationships with the business community and the cultural institutions of the region. The department constitutes an interdisciplinary unit with scholars being organised around three research groups focusing on business administration, regional economics, and people and society in border regions. The department offers teaching at all levels within Business administration, Business Relationship Management, European Studies and Regional Economics. There are approximately 800 students from about 50 countries enrolled at the department. Teaching is conducted in English only.
Being an interdisciplinary department, we are interested in candidates with the academic skills to address business administration from a complex and multidisciplinary perspective in either one or more of the following areas:
• Marketing
• Marketing Research
• Human Resources & Organisation
• Strategic Management
The position involves research, teaching in undergraduate and graduate programmes, and participation in administrative tasks. The position also includes thesis supervision on all levels, course development, being responsible for courses and contributing to the further development of the department. You are expected to be a visible, active participant in the department’s daily activities, in addition to being willing to engage in disciplinary and interdisciplinary collaboration across the departments research groups.
Qualification requirements
- The applicant holds a PhD or equivalent in business administration with a specialisation in one of the above fields.
- A successful track record of publications related to one or several of the above mentioned fields in order to display experience in research and publication. A research focus on interfirm relations (B2B relationship) and/or aspects of Supply Chain Management is an advantage.
- Pedagogical proficiency has to be demonstrated through teaching experience on both undergraduate and graduate level. This must be documented in a manner which makes it possible to assess the quality of pedagogical undertakings.
- The applicant has the ability to engage in teamwork and does also possesses skills to proactively contribute to the further development of the department.
Assessment criteria
Special and equal emphasis will be paid to scientific proficiency demonstrated through independent research, and pedagogical qualification evidenced through independent teaching, course development and thesis supervision. Recent publications in international journals are considered to be a fundamental when evaluating scientific expertise and research activity.
Emphasis will also be paid to successful experience of applying for and receiving research funds from external sources.

Appointment to the position will be in accordance with the salary agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations and in accordance with the job description for instructors and academic personnel at institutions of higher education.
