Associate Professor in Visual Communication
The Institute for Language and Communication, Odense is seeking to fill a position of Associate Professor in Visual Communication with effect from 1st December 2012.
The position involves research and teaching in visual communication with a focus on the realisation of still and moving images in conjunction with other forms of expression, both verbal and non-verbal.
The appointment as Associate Professor requires, in addition to a PhD, academic qualifications at, or equivalent to, the level achieved on the basis of a satisfactory period of employment as assistant professor.
It is a requirement that the applicant provides documentation of research production at an international level as well as teaching qualifications in the focus areas mentioned above. Assistant Professors seeking the position as Associate Professor are required to attach an assessment of their teaching competences.
Emphasis will be placed on applicants being able to take an active part in one or more of the Institute’s research environments, and applicants should provide an account of how they will be able to contribute to the development of the Institute’s teaching and research profile.
Applications will be assessed by an expert committee. Applicants will be informed of their assessment by the university.
As part of the overall assessment of the applicant’s qualifications, an interview may be applied.

Appointment in this position will also encompass teaching obligations in regard to related degree programmes.
The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations)
If the successful applicant has not documented teaching experience corresponding to assistant professor level, the applicant will be engaged on trial for the first 18 months.

Enclosures must be assembled in sets. Applicants applying for an associate professorship at the Faculty of Humanities are requested to submit a teaching portfolio with the application as documentation for teaching experience as well as supervision qualifications.
